DivX GejBox Media Streamer Concept Box
So we read over at engadet that it seems that DivX is trying to get someone to build a DivX media streaming box. DivX has become one of the standards of movie compression over the years and more and more media devices support the codec for playback.
A good quote from the article:
Basically this thing is a media streaming beta box to test out DivX's new connected hardware platform initiative, so it's safe to say that while a select few beta testers will get to play around with a GejBox, this device will most likely never make it to market -- at least not in its current form. (DivX is really trying to get harware-makers to pick up their platform, we don't think they want to be in the box business.)
So we will have to keep an eye on this as we feel this is the year of the streaming media revolution. Sorry to be so dramatic, but we have been following this for so long its nice to see some actual momentum in the sector. Apple and Microsoft are both in the market and more and more companies are vying for the title of the best media streamer on the market.
Here's hoping someone picks this up and runs with it
