PS3 1.80 Firmware is out and your Media is Streaming
So one thing we have been happy about recently was the anncouncement that with the new firmware from Sony the PS3 will be able to upscale its video output to 1080p. One of the biggest black marks lingering with the PS3 release was the fact that it handled HD content so poorly. Now that you can stream HD content through your PS3 there is more of an allure to having it.
So far the Xbox360 has kicked the crap out of the PS3 and Sony needs all the help they can get to scrape back some market share. A lot of people hate buying devices that only do one thing. The fact that the PS3 has firmly( no pun intended ) moved into the home video streaming arena is good news for Sony and we can only expect a slight bump in their sales as people buy a few extra units for the new funtionality.
We haven't been able to test it out, but so far it sounds like people like it. Photos, music and video all streamed from your home PC isn't anything new, but doing it with your game console is pretty slick.
