Stream iTunes and Video from your Macintosh to your Xbox 360
Nullriver is the creator of Connect360, a media streaming software package that allows your Xbox 360 to stream content off of a Mac connected to your network.
It works by indexing all of your iTunes and iPhoto libraries and grants access to the Xbox. Then via the dashboard in the Xbox you can browse to your Mac and play or view any of the media you have opted to share.
Some of the nice features of Connect360 include:
- Automatic updating of iTunes library as you add or subtract
- Ability to sort by song, artist, album, genre or playlist
- Updates your play count and play date in iTunes for songs played on the Xbox
- Can play iTunes songs while playing games
Connect360 supports the following formats:
Music
- MP3
- AAC
- WAV
- AIFF
- Apple Lossless

One of the nice features of this software is that it can connect in two ways. It can either use the built in wired network port of the Xbox or it can use the Xbox 360 WiFi adapter. The whole setup is supposed to be plug and play. Once you have the software installed it should just see your Xbox on the network and vice-versa.
We have some friends that are using this currently and they like it so much that they are already buying some extra hard drives to accommodate their collection of DVDs and CDs. Yet another great use of an already networked device.
We will keep you updated on the progress of this software as it looks very promising for anyone that already owns an Xbox 360 and doesn't want to fork over any more money on another gadget.
Oh and for $20 it is a steal!

I installed this on both my Macbook Pro and Mac Mini (ppc) and it works great. Setup took less than 10 minutes - the only thing you need to do is make sure you disconnect the computer on the xbox 360 if you were connecting to a pc before.
We tried a variety of formats and everything worked great for video - even h.264 - this is killer stuff.
