NuVo NV-M3 Expensive Multi-Room Audio Server

nuvo_m3.jpg

We have seen all types of devices for streaming music around the house and we have had our opinions, good and bad, about all of them. Well there seems to be a bunch of people that assume that rich people just love parting with their money. The latest product to make us think this is the NuVo NV-M3 Multi-Room Audio Streamer. With all options to stream music around your house, why someone would choose to spend $2,200 on a device that only has a 160GB Hard drive and limited options for streaming is beyond us.

Don't get us wrong, we love that they have come out with a product that allows multi-room streaming and they have done it with a very sexy design. Our problem comes from the price tag and the available options.
Check out after the jump for options that make us scratch our heads.
  • 3 Source Outputs
  • 160 GB Hard Drive
  • 115 straight days of nonstop music at 128 kbps high quality audio
  • Windows Media Player based with quick sync capability
  • DRM (Digital Rights Managed) content capable
  • Compatible with standard compressed and non-compressed files in most formats including WMA, Mp3 and WAV
  • Standard USB port connection links PC and Music Server
  • Smart source feedback via Concerto Control pad with browsing by play list, track, artist, album, genre and favorites
  • Capacitive Touch front panel with OLED display
We love music, we love streaming it all over our house and we love just about any product that allows us to do this, but spending over two thousands dollars for a device that is so Microsoft centric and only really supports a couple of formats seems ludicrous. We are sure that this device is very advanced. It offers multi-room playback and can be controlled via panels that you install in your walls, but it offers no flexibility.

We're sure that there will be a bunch of people that will buy this, but for the money couldn't you just buy a Sonos system with a bunch of add-ons to achieve the same effect for WAY less money? This must be targeted at that person that has more money then they know what to do with that wants to impress their friends with a device no one has seen before. Well by all means, pick up a NuVo NV-M3 Streamer and impress away.

For sale at Amazon.
