Why We Hate Digital TV

convertor.jpg

This is not exactly true. We love the way HD looks and cleans up the worst of pictures. What we hate is the changeover from analog to digital. That's not exactly true either. What we hate is that our TV that is in our office is connected to a converter and rabbit ears and when the wind blows the wrong way, we get mush. It takes a couple of seconds to switch channels, the sound sucks without stereo and we see ghosts. But when it the sun is out and the wind dies down, we love HD. And we love that some of our local channels have extras that show movies and classic TV shows 24/7. How about you guys? Have you made the switch yet? Are you having problems or is everything peachy keen?

We live in the county, our home is on top of a hill, surrounded by a lot of trees. We really dislike the digital telivision, b/c of the constant disturbance in the signal. Today, I actually got to watch (and listen) to about 30 minutes of one movie (at the same time!) then, midway through, I had to switch to analog b/c the sound went out (just digital interference) now, we have sound and a fuzzy picture. I love what they promised it would be, but I haven't actually been able to enjoy it...

Prior to June 12th we had been getting digital signals on our 2 digital tvs from basic off air antennas just fine. Until now that is, after the switch. I don't know why we are having so many problems we didnt have before. We never know if the channel we want to view will be there or not. I've had to rescan 3 times since June 12th. That's on channels that were fine after the switch, then disappeared. Also problems with the audio being out of sync. Then there is the choppy breaking of the picture and the audio. Blame it on the binary 0,1,0,1's, on/off digital world. It must be the networks because like I said, we were fine with it before. Can someone tell me if it's just a matter of getting the bugs worked out on the station side or are we being forced into paying for a service we can't afford?

I'm glad that I am not the only one with problems! Some days I have to constantly move the antenna to get in a station, some days they don't come in at all. It is due to a lot of things. It could be your antenna or its placement, or the networks not being up to par as yet. Don't freak too much, as this is new to most of them as well. Especially the smaller stations. Don't cave for cable or satellite if you don't want that. Patience is a virtue, after all.

Im fed up. I hate digital and the way its forced on you. You HAVE to have digital or get no telly, how cruel is that. I will miss analog telly....and already we are loosing some analog channels. Its very unfair and cruel to older folk.

I still cannot get Fox and windy days are still the pits. Brian, I agree. I miss analog, too. And I miss film now that everything is "digitally remastered."

Thanks for your comments!
