Alaska and Southwest Airlines Test WiFi

Alaska Airlines has joined the ranks of American, Delta and Air Canada to offer its customers Satellite technology from Row 44. The Inflight WiFi can be used with a laptop, smartphone, PMP or any other wireless device to browse and gain access to corporate networks via VPN. The service is beginning in one flight that runs between Seattle and San Jose on their Boeing 700/737 planes and if successful, will be available on other flights. The company has said that it will allow consumers to determine what is a fair price after the trial period, but knowing how airlines are now charging for meals and other extras, don't be surprised at the results.
Trying to keep up, Southwest Airlines has also announced it is beta testing a service on three of their planes. After the trial, expect to pay about $10.00 per day.
