Networking With Contact Lens

This may not be NAV's usual forte, but we thought it appropriate when we really thought about it. Since 2004, scientists and eye surgeons at the University of Washington have been working on a contact lens that features a built-in LED and will wirelessly monitor vital signs. In addition, it may some day have an interface for social networking and gaming. The team integrated miniature antennas, radio chips and control circuits using optoelectronic components that may eventually display images, words and charts.
