Study Shows Internet Addicted Collegians

A recent study shows that college students are addicted to the Internet. While this is no big surprise to those of us past that age that admit our addictions, some of the results were certainly amusing. Two hundred University of Maryland students gave up all media for 24 hours. At the end of that time, many showed signs of craving, anxiety and withdrawal.

Project director and journalism professor Susan Moeller says the students not having their electronics was equal to losing their friends and family. Clearly, these students have try to wean themselves by hitting the library, getting a small pet or reading a newspaper, just in case there is an extensive Google or Twitter crash.
