Redbox to Offer Blu-ray, Test Sell-Through

redbox.jpg

If you have forgone your local video stores in favor of Netflix or occasionally venture out into the real world and rent $1.00 DVDs from Redbox, you will be happy to know that they are doing quite well, thank you very much, and will soon be offering Blu-ray titles for $1.50. Redbox already covers about 23% of the rental market and claims that 16.9% of their users already own Blu-ray players. The company will also be testing sell-through at prices around $ 5 - 9.00 and has signed a deal with Universal and Fox to rent new releases 28 days after they come out.
