Apache Helicopter Communicates by Muzzle Flash

Now that the world is abuzz with Blackhawk helicopter news, there seems to be another new one that the Army is working on to help fight the bad guys. This Apache model has an infrared camera that can detect ground fire by muzzle flashes. That information will also be available to ground forces, operation centers and other aircraft. Look for the new and improved Apache with Ground Fire Acquisition System (GFAS) in a war hopefully not near you within a year.
