MCX Payment for Smartphones


Merchant Customer Exchange has courted the likes of Best Buy, Target and Walmart to bring you simplified smartphone purchasing. The mobile app plans to include rewards like loyalty programs, coupons and rebates. MCX plans to include retailers, restaurants, gas stations and supermarkets in the months to come. This is clearly not the first nor the last company to come up with this plan and it remains to be seen if their efforts are successful.

Avatar Blu-ray 3D Will Make Oct. Debut

We say it's about time. Come October, Avatar will finally become available on Blu-ray 3D. Supposedly, Fox's Collector's Edition was stalled because of a lack of 3DTVs and director James Cameron insists that this version is "the way it was meant to be seen." We agree, as it was the first movie we actually went to see in a theater in years. Who knew blue could still be so cool? Pre-order the $2.7 billion flick now and in the meantime, enjoy this video incentive.

Latest Sony Reader Includes Harry Potter


Sony has released its latest eReader earlier than its expected September debut. Available in white, black or red , the PRS-T2 has a glare-free touchscreen, 2GB storage, preloaded dictionaries and translators, Facebook and Everclear access and a 2-month battery life. The eReader also comes with a voucher for the first Harry Potter ebook. As with its previous version, it can access Sony's library that allows borrowing from more than 15,000 public libraries. The PRS-T2 carries a $129.99 price, with optional cover and cover with light also available.

TuneIn radio service claims that it now has 40 million subscribers, 10 million more than this time last year. After raising $16 million investment funding, the company will soon have even more than its current 70,000 stations and 2 million on-demand programs. A free app browses by location or genre and for songs, artist or station. Bump that up to a $.99 Pro account and users can also record tunes.

It seems there is no end to what the Galaxy S Lightray can do. MetroPCS has teamed with Dyle Mobile TV to bring live, local broadcasts via antenna. The smartphone has a 4.3" AMOLED touchscreen, front and back facing cameras, a 1GH processor and a 16GB SD card to improve its 1.38GB memory. The carrier offers their 4G network with unlimited data access in plans starting at only $40.00 and after purchasing of the smartphone for $459.00, the TV service is free.

Polaroid Teams With ASDA


It's nice to see that Polaroid is still among us and branching out. After partnering with ASDA, they are now making a 42" LCD 3D TV. It has 3 HDMI sockets, a SCART socket and PC input. Because it is a passive HDTV, it can be connected to Blu-ray or DVD player. The price includes 4 sets of 3D glasses. It carries a MSRP of £399.00 (~$628.00.) The co-companies have also teamed with a wooden DAB radio dock for iPhone/iPad, a portable DVD player and Bluetooth Speaker.
