Panasonic Music Dock Sits Tabletop


Gone are the days of our humongous Pioneer music systems as evidenced by this iPod dock that comes tabletop-sized. The X-SMC3-S Music Tap has WiFi access to online stations like Pandora and IHeart Radio via AirPlay. iPhones, iPod touches, iPads and Macs can take advantage of the system as can PCs that run iTunes.

Angry Birds Spreads Their Wings to Docks


Angry Bird fanatics can add another new toy to prove their loyalty. Gear4 will soon be releasing both stand alone speakers and iPod/iPad/iPhone docks at prices of $79.99 and $99.99 respectively. The Red Bird Plug-and-Play speaker has volume and bass controls with a .5mm jack, while the docks include a handy remote. Gear4 was smart enough to get on board the AB licensing train early and offers cases for Apple devices.

Stacked Serves Up iPads


The iPad finds its way into the cleverest of niches, including the tables of Stacked, a recently opened restaurant in Torrance. Formerly BJ's, one device is placed for every four customers who can order pizza, burgers and various other high carb foods and specify toppings, buns and sides. Beer, wine and milkshakes can also be selected, with images of each showing up as the user programs them in. Eaters can swipe a credit card to pay and actual humans deliver the meals.

HBO Go to Become Portable


HBO subscribers can look forward to an app for their portable devices as well as their PCs. HBO Go will soon stream the channel's movies and TV episodes to iPad/iPhones/Android smartphones and is unlimited and instant, with plenty of HD content. Reportedly any season is available for free, as well as bonus features and extras, giving us another excuse to never leave the house for entertainment. Look for the portable service to come out early next month.

Zite Digital iPad Mag Adapts


Worio has a service that allows its users to search for things that are related. After changing their name to Zite, they created an iPad-based digital magazine that "gets smarter as you use it." It will collect information tailored to each person when he/she signs up, recommends articles based on likes and dislikes and steers them towards the blogs they prefer. Best of all, the download is free.

Pioneer AirPlay Compatible AV Receiver


Pioneer has come up with an AirPlay compatible AV receiver. The ASX-1021 works with the 7.1 channel VSX-1021 home theater and adding a LAN adapter allows streaming by iPod/iPhone/iPad. Pioneer has also released free software for remote control and editing playlists via AirJam.
