MvixUSA 780-HD Media Streaming Device Unboxing

Front_of_box.jpg

The box in all its glory

We just got the amazing new 780HD media streamer in the office and we wanted to share with you the standard unboxing pictures that some of you like and others apparently hate with a passion. We will have a quick first impressions post up soon about this and our detailed hands on review will probably be out next week. As anyone that reads the site often knows, we love ourselves some Mvix. We have been using the 760HD as our primary media streaming device and it has rocked. We have been anxiously awaiting the release of the 780HD in the states as it promised a lot of new features and improvements on some of the older features. Well without further ado here are the pictures.

New Media Streamer From MvixUSA: The MX780HD

Mvix_780HD.jpg

After many months of silence it looks like MvixUSA will be releasing their new HD streamer, the 780HD. This is a nice upgrade to their 760HD which has garnered a lot of praise from us over the past year.[here and here] The 780 is set to fix the few problems that the 760 had. For starters they have upgraded the Sigma CPU to the EM8621L which can decode H.264 and that will make a lot of people happy since we have heard a lot of people saying they won't buy a media streamer that can't do H.264. Also added to the new device is a HDMI port which again had a lot of 760HD owners upset. We personally love Component video since you aren't subjected to the same DRM restrictions and since most experts agree that few people can really tell the difference between a movie shown via Component and one shown via HDMI. But non the less people love it so it has been added.

They have also thrown a few other new things into this device. There is an eMule client so you can download straight to the box, no need to transfer anything. There isn't much else different, the same case design although this time it is in black. The same connectors on the back with the addition of HDMI. We have spoken with the guys over at MvixUSA and we are going to be getting us a demo unit so you can be sure that we will have all the details for you soon. For those of you that held off on the Mvix 760HD for whatever reason, this could be the update you have been looking for. For those that have yet to buy a digital media center the guys from Mvix have the best multi-function media streamer on the market. So stay tuned for when we get our hands on this sucker.

Big Sale on Mvix 760HD at NewEgg

mx760hd.jpg

Well as any reader of our site knows, we love the Mvix 760HD. It has fulfilled our desire to be able to access all of our DVD's without having to actual have the DVD present. We have put all of our DVD's on our central server and use the 760 to stream them to our TV.

Well we were very excited when we saw that Mvix had teamed up with Newegg to offer a great deal on their 760HD. You can now purchase the 760HD via Newegg for the low price of 304.99 after printing and filling out the main-in-rebate form on the website.

If there was ever a time you were thinking of jumping on the 760's bandwagon now is it. This has been our favorite media streamer yet. It has changed the way we watch movies. Having all of them available all the time without that ugly stack of DVD's next to the TV has been great.

Hopefully this deal will turn some more people onto the the 760HD and help show companies like Apple what a true media streamer should be like!

Free Optical Cable Giveaway at MvixUSA

mvixusa_760hd.jpg

We just saw that the good people over at MvixUSA have a new promotion going on to increase exposure for their great 760HD media streamer ( see news here and here ).

They have a deal going on currently that the first 500 people that sign up for their promo get a free optical cable. The only thing that you have to do is fill out a form and agree to receive a brief email about the 760HD.

We think this is a great way to expose a larger audience to the 760HD. Many people don't really hear about networked media streamers and when they do they end up hearing only about the AppleTV. This is a great way to show people that there are other options out there for people.

We have loved their products so we really hope this allows more people to find out about the 760 and experience first hand what a great product it is.

We recently were able to conduct an interview with Rich Knitter (marketing director) of Mvix(USA), Inc. to answer a few questions we had.

The Top 7 Media Streaming Products Available Today

top10.jpg

Well we have reviewed a lot of different devices over the past months and we are here to say what we think our the top 7 products on the market today. Why 7, well we are just sick of top ten lists, thats why. There are a lot of things to weigh when you are deciding on which device makes the list.

For us here at Networking Audio Video, one of the most important aspects of any media streamer is ease of setup. If your average person off the street can't open the box and get this thing to work then it won't be widely adopted, plain and simple.

We also had to decide if we were only going to include products that could stream all media types or also include specialized devices that only did audio, video, or images. After much internal debate we decided to include all the devices out there even if they only streamed one type of content.

Well enough boring setup, on to the list!

MvixUSA 760-HD Wireless Media Center Hands on Review

mvixusa_760hd.jpg

Well we have had some time to play around with our shiny new 760HD and we can only say, WOW! Sure its not the most creative description of our thoughts, but we were so blown away with everything this thing can do that we are left speechless.

We were expecting the typical streaming device that worked, but left us with that, meh, feeling. From the minute we plugged this sucker in we knew that there was more to this then just your run of the mill device. We had been reading up on and writing about the 760 for awhile now so we had a basic understanding of what it should be able to do, but we were excited to see how well it actually did them.

MvixUSA 760-HD in house

mvixusa_760hd.jpg

Well our MvixUSA 760-HD has finally arrived and we can't be more excited to put it through our battery of tests. We have only just set it up and are seeing how it performs, but it looks like this could be our holy grail of media centers. We have yet to get to a point of frustration of find any true bottlenecks.

It has an elegant look and has so far past all of our tests, the most important one being that it just works out of the box. No one should have to spend hours searching the Internet trying to find answers on how to get their cool new product to work. We followed the directions and in a matter of minutes we were able to see our files on the TV.

We will have a bunch more articles coming up on this amazing product and a special one that pits the 760HD against the Apple TV, stay tuned.

Mvix MV-5000U Multimedia Player

mv5000ul.jpg

MvixUSA's MV-5000U is a new approach to networked music and one that we think you will come to love. Usually the products that we cover deal with being hooked up to the network so you can keep your files in once place and play them over your entertainment center.

Well the MV-5000U takes a different approach. Basically you hook this up to your PC via USB 2.0 and transfer all of the files you want to the internal hard drive( not included with purchase ). Once you have all of your music, photos and videos on the device just move it down to your entertainment center and hook it up to your TV and stereo.

MvixUSA MX-760HD Review

mvix_main.jpg
The MX-760HD from MvixUsa is their latest offering in the networked digital media market. The Mvix 760HD is basically an external hard drive that has built in media playing capabilities. Hook this up to your TV and you can, via the on screen menus, browse the media that is backed up on the internal hard drive ( up to 750gig can be purchased and installed by the user ) or another location on your network. This is a very stylish device that offers what a lot of people have been looking for, an attractive unit that can easily display their media on their TV. Very few people want to sit at their computer to watch movies or look at sideshows of pictures. Hook this up to your TV and you won't have to. Once you have the hard drive set up to work with the Mvix, whatever you put on it will be accessible either via the front control panels or the remote control.
