Sony is Latest Company to Team With Netflix


Sony has teamed with Netflix to add their streaming to Bravia Internet Video-capable TVs and older models through the Bravia Internet video link. Netflix's CEO Reed Hastings commented that the company is "proud to include Sony Electronics among our CE partners" such as MS, Roku, Tivo and LG. We would be proud as well if we just upped our market by an entire company.

Sony DVDirect More Compact, Less Expensive


Sony's next gen DVD recorder can transfer standard and HD home videos and digital photos without a computer. The DVDirect VRD-MC6 has a 2.7" color LCD screen for preview of up to 6 images or one video and is about 60% smaller than its predecessor. Connect to a Sony hard drive, memory stick or Handycam recorder by USB and play back on Blu-ray players and PC drives, as well as PS3s via Digital Video (i.LINK(R)/FireWire(R)/IEEE-1394.) The recorder can hold up to 6 hours of SD video, 95 minutes of AVCHD video or up to 2,000 digital pictures. Choose between 4 preset menus, add music from your MP3 files and automatic DVD chaptering and you have yourself quite a show. Look for a $229.00 price when it debuts this September.

Boxee Windows Version Available, Adds MLB and More


Boxee has added some new features. One of them is the streaming MLB.TV Premium that includes live and on-demand games, with the ability to pause and rewind. Users can now stream music and create photo slideshows from Tumblr and CurrentTV is available now for news and entertainment. Check their blog for other improvements But perhaps the best news is that
their Windows version is now available in public beta, so if you have wanted to try it out, now is the time.

Mvix to Release Ultio Media Player


Mvix is about to release their latest media player. The Ultio MX-800 is hard disk based and will reproduce up to 1080p video. Pre-equipped with a network port, it features a samba server and UPnP implementation. View movies or photos or listen to music as it supports most HD codecs including AVC-HD and FLAC. Stream content with integration with services like PlayOn or Tversity for such sites as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, CNN and ESPN. It also has 2 USB 2.0 slaves for extending storage, adding media cards or USB drives. Look for the Ultio sometime this week with a decent price of $169.00.
